Producer

About 2 acres in production with 5 hoop houses. Located off Highway 550, 4.5 miles from the New Mexico border on the Animas River. Irrigation water comes from the Animas as does surprisingly cold air overnight in the spring and fall. We are warmer being further south, but also colder being on the Animas. Sheila, Mom, and Jesse, son, do all the work with a little help from neighbors and a volunteer.

We grow organically but are not certified organic. The soil in the Animas River valley is very rocky and low in organic matter, We use cover crops, minimal, tillage, compost and organic fertilizers. If needed, only OMRI approved pest control methods are used.
