About Us
Adobe House Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm in Durango, CO. We sell year-round from unheated tunnels at James Ranch, Durango Farmers Market, Southwest Farm Fresh grower-owned cooperative, Farm to School, and Zia Taqueria.

Peter and Linley Dixon and brother Reid Smith grow dozens of crops on three acres in the Animas Valley just eight miles north of Durango in Hermosa. We take pride in the biodiversity of plants, weeds, and insects we foster on the farm and aim to keep living roots growing in the soil at all times. Why living roots?

Photosynthesizing plants take in atmospheric carbon, make sugars and complex carbon molecules, and deposit a third of these “photosynthates” into the soil as root exudates. This process not only returns atmospheric carbon to the soil, but it also feeds the complex life in the soil which, in turn, unlocks, delivers, and cycles nutrients to the plants. All this is better accomplished with out fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides that harm the soil life. We aim to mimic the natural processes at work around us. Healthy soils make healthy plants, which in turn make healthy humans! The future of the planet depends on it!
Practices
Certified Organic - pesticide-free, no synthetic fertilizers, drip irrigation, minimal till
